Lessons

We offer private lessons for all ages at all skill levels.  Whether you’re interested in taking a few lessons, or enrolling for the Fall or Spring semesters, start by reading the information below.  When you’re ready to get started, give us a call (203-292-3077), or send us an email.

For those also interested in playing in a band, we offer discounted band rates to our students enrolled in lessons.

Schedule & Tuition

During the school year, lessons are offered on a semester basis, and are given weekly (19-20 total lessons).   Once registered, students take their lessons at the same day and time each week, with the same instructor.  Tuition is pro-rated, so you only pay for the remaining lessons of the semester.  (You can start any time!) There is a registration fee of $40; a deposit can be paid to secure your day and time for the upcoming semester.

Please note: for new students, the first lesson is payable individually.

Fall Semester: approximately September thru January (see calendar). Deposits for the upcoming fall are payable in July, balances in October.

Spring Semester: approximately February thru mid-June (see calendar).
Deposits for the upcoming spring are payable in January, balances in April.

30 min: $60/lesson - $600 deposit

45 min: $90/lesson - $900 deposit

60 min: $120/lesson - $1200 deposit

Summer lessons are billed separately based on the student’s schedule and how many lessons they want to take.

Our Instructors

  • Chris Cass

    Guitar, Piano, Bass Guitar

    Chris Cass is an experienced guitar instructor and multi-instrumentalist. He attended Berklee College of Music, and brings over 30 years of knowledge and experience to both his teaching and day to day management of our school.

  • Steve Sasloe

    Piano & Vocals

    Steve Sasloe has been involved in music on a professional basis since the 1970’s. Teacher, performer, composer and arranger, Steve is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Additionally, he has performed all over the world as a keyboardist and Music Director, most recently finishing a 5 year position with international artist Jose Feliciano. Along with teaching private piano lessons, Steve also leads two of The Music Collective’s adult rock bands.

  • Josh Auchterlonie

    Guitar, Piano, Bass Guitar

    Josh is a local professional guitarist/instructor with decades of experience teaching and performing music. Josh specializes in both electric and acoustic guitar styles ranging from rock and blues to country and folk. He also leads The Music Collective’s Monday night adult rock band.

  • Mike Gurge

    Vocals, Drums, Guitar & Piano

    Mike has been teaching in our area for decades, and is a veteran of many outstanding regional bands, including Relative Souls. Mike has collaborated with countless groups and musicians, lending his vocal and instrumental sounds to projects in a wide range of styles. A multi-instrumentalist, Mike is at home behind a keyboard, organ or drum set. A dynamic vocalist with a keen ear for harmony, Mike also plays guitar, and is especially comfortable on the 12-string. Mike teaches private lessons and runs our Wednesday night band.

  • Glenn Mariconda

    Drums

    Glenn Mariconda has been teaching and playing drums professionally for over 40 years. He hails from a family of musicians and music educators, and as such, began working as a drummer while still in school. Glenn accepts students of all ages and abilities, and excels at keeping the lessons fun and informative. He also works with our adult band on Tuesday evenings.

  • Andrew Willmott

    Piano & Brass Instruments

    Drew Willmott has been among our area's most highly regarded piano and brass instructors for over 30 years. A few highlights of his lengthy resume include performances all over the world with Czech trumpet star Laco Deczi, and with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. In addition to The Music Collective, Drew is the Jazz Ensemble director and trumpet teacher at the New England Music Camp.

  • Maya Kallins

    Saxophone, Beginner Clarinet, Piano

    Maya is a recent graduate of the Frost School of Music, where she earned her degree in classical saxophone performance. A lifelong musician, she began studying piano at age 5, added saxophone at age 10, and later expanded her musical expertise to include multiple woodwind instruments. She has performed with various ensembles and pit orchestras, showcasing her passion and commitment to her craft.
